Purpose: My team was asked to brainstorm a way to make our staff more approachable during the COVID-19 pandemic. I then designed these graphics from photos of staff members. These staff members work closely with our students and we wanted to put a face to their department and work, ultimately creating a connection with those that use their services.
Techniques: These were hand-drawn on Illustrator with a Wacom tablet.
Design Decisions: The ‘Better Ask Brad’ comic was requested to be university branded. I wanted to represent Brad as a tech superhero because he is very much a quiet force that saves our Apple computers. The ‘Meet Paula’ graphic was requested to represent her personality. I used warm and happy colors to show the joy of working with her.
Outcome: These are used throughout social, newsletters, postcards, and websites. The graphics drive up likes on our social account and I was consequently asked to create more.
